Fast-Food Strikes Widen into Social-Justice Movement

快餐业大罢工，千人涨薪声声讨社会公平

Thousands of workers and protesters from New York City to Los Angeles walked, marched and shouted their demands in front of fast-food locations and on several major college campuses for $15-an-hour wages. At least one McDonald’s in New York City was temporarily closed by protesters. Several McDonald’s stores kept drive-throughs1 operating, even while the restaurants were temporarily locked.

Sandstorm Hits Beijing

The Chinese capital is clearing itself out from one of the biggest sandstorms in some 13-years. “It is as if I was blind, I cannot see anything.” Strong winds from the west stirred up2 significant air-quality issues. PM-10 readings hit 1-thousand in many parts of the city. Visibility was reduced to less than a thousand meters in some places. The sandstorm also rolled through parts of Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Tianjin and Hebei.

北京遭受13年以来最严重的沙尘暴洗劫。“我感觉好像瞎了一般，什么也看不到。”狂风自西而来，搅起了严重的空气质量问题。监测网络多处站点PM10浓度均超过1000微克/立方米。部分地区的能见度不足1000米。沙尘暴还席卷了新疆、内蒙古、天津和河北等地。

“Cheryl’s Birthday” Math Problem Puzzles World

A maths problem for 14-year-olds has baffled people across the world. Question uses logical reasoning and aims to choose out the most intelligent. It was set in the Singapore and Asian Schools Maths Olympiads (SASMO).

The test asked:

Albert and Bernard just became friends with Cheryl, and they want to know when her birthday is. Cheryl gives them a list of 10 possible dates.

May 15, May 16, May 19

June 17, June 18

July 14, July 16

August 14, August 15, August 17

Cheryl then tells Albert and Bernard separately the month and the day of her birthday respectively.

Albert: I don’t know when Cheryl’s birthday is, but I know that Bernard does not know too.

Bernard: At first I don’t know when Cheryl’s birthday is, but I know now.

Albert: Then I also know when Cheryl’s birthday is.

So when is Cheryl’s birthday?
